Skotdal Unveils New EV Charging Stations at Four Apartments

January 20, 2026 - Everett, WA

City officials, Skotdal employees, and United Hub partners cut the gold ribbon

Skotdal Real Estate is taking a significant step toward sustainable living with the installation of 30 new Level-2 electric vehicle charging stations across four properties, including Aero Apartments, Library Place Apartments, Marquee Apartments, and Peninsula Apartments. Today's ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Marquee's Wetmore Avenue garage celebrated a project that brings expanded charging infrastructure to local residents.

The initiative began when Dan Eernissee, the City of Everett's Economic Development Director, connected Skotdal Real Estate with United Hub, a Redmond-based organization which installs EV charging stations in underserved communities using grant funding from the Washington State Department of Commerce. Thomas Boydell, Senior Project Manager at United Hub said upcoming Level-2 and Level-3 projects are expected to be completed in Renton, Tukwila, SeaTac, and Rainier Valley.

"At the same time, we were already exploring EV charging options at our downtown properties because residents were asking for it," said Jen Payton, Residential Portfolio Manager for Skotdal.

The grant allowed Skotdal to plan the infrastructure at scale, installing multiple chargers at once and designing the system for long-term use. However, the project wasn't without its challenges. Payton noted that ensuring reliable cellular coverage for connectivity and monitoring proved unexpectedly complex, as did retrofitting new equipment into the existing building.

"We had to evaluate electrical capacity, plan for load, coordinate with the utility provider, and work through the permitting process to ensure everything met current codes and could support future demand," she explained.

The EV charging installation reflects Skotdal's broader commitment to Everett and its residents. As a local company, Skotdal views housing as part of a larger "live, work, and play" ecosystem, making ongoing investments in properties and community partnerships.

Looking ahead, Skotdal is incorporating sustainability features into new developments from the ground up. The upcoming Mosaic Apartments, set to open this spring, will include triple-pane windows and solar panels, while existing communities will continue receiving energy-efficient upgrades.

"We're proud to be part of Everett's growth, and we view this work as a long-term commitment," Payton said. "We'll continue to invest in housing, infrastructure, and community partnerships which support residents and help make Everett an even better place to live."
